In the framework of the program GLASNET supported by the General Secretariat for Research & Technology of the Greek Ministry of Development, the National Center for Scientific Research "DEMOKRITOS" in cooperation with the 22nd Ephorate of Prehistoric and Classical Antiquities (Rhodes), the Hellinikos Yalourgikos Syndesmos (Greek Glass Federation) and the IIC-Hellenic Group organized the first International Conference "Hyalos-Vitrum-Glass" on the History, Technology and Conservation of Glass and Vitreous Materials in the Hellenic world. The goal of the conference was the evaluation of the ancient Greek glass history and technology through an interdisciplinary approach. The conference has attracted archaeologists, engineers, conservators and executives involved in the history, technology and conservation of the ancient Greek glass. The conference included topics such as history, structure, raw materials, manufacturing, corrosion and conservation of glasses. The program contained 12 invited papers, 32 oral and 20 poster presentations.
